Le 1er octobre 2020, nous avons perdu l’un des dentellières les plus accomplies en Europe ces dernières années : Marianne Stang. Dentellière depuis 1982, elle a été formée comme professeur de dentelle aux fuseaux par le Deutscher Klöppelverband e.V. (Association allemande de dentelle), dont elle a été la vice-présidente de 1986 à 1992 et la présidente de 1992 à 1998.
Après avoir quitté cette fonction, elle a créé, avec sa sœur Anneliese Wienands, l’association Forum Alte Spitze GbR, dont le but est de promouvoir et de diffuser la dentelle par des cours et des séminaires, d’élargir les connaissances de l’art de la dentelle par des excursions en Allemagne et à l’étranger, et d’acheter de la dentelle de valeur pour constituer une collection. Cette collection est disponible pour des expositions.
En outre, Marianne Stang a participé à de nombreux projets Erasmus et est la coordinatrice de notre projet BobbinLacee, sur lequel nous travaillons actuellement. Dès le début, elle s’est inquiétée de l’ampleur du projet et nous a demandé si ce n’était pas trop de travail pour nous. Et oui, nous admettons que c’est beaucoup de travail. Mais tous ceux d’entre nous qui y participent sont sûrs qu’au final, nous serons fiers d’avoir pu le mener à bien. Nous faisons un excellent travail qui restera pour la postérité, et cela grâce à Marianne Stang, qui nous a poussés à participer.
Notre Marianne nous a laissés orphelins. En pensant à elle pendant le projet, son accueil lors de la réunion de lancement à Übach-Palenberg (Allemagne) me vient à l’esprit – combien de voyages elle a faits pour nous emmener d’un endroit à l’autre ! Et puis à Vienne, nous laissant sans voix avec une conférence sur l’évolution de la dentelle illustrée par des diapositives. Et à Scanno, je la vois apprécier la rencontre avec des dentellières italiennes qu’elle connaissait déjà. Et enfin à Prague, où nous l’avons vue fatiguée, mais heureuse de nous voir tous enchantés par ceux qui nous enseignaient.
Être à ses côtés a toujours été un plaisir, car elle avait toujours quelque chose à dire. Elle savait tout et était généreuse pour le partager. Terminons le projet en joignant nos cœurs en l’honneur de Marianne. Nous ferons en sorte que « son » projet soit mené à bien. Anneliese Wienands et Elda Gantner vont maintenant prendre en charge la coordination.
Un vieux dicton dit : « Les bons amis sont comme des étoiles. Même si on ne les voit pas toujours, on sait qu’ils sont là ». Et maintenant Marianne est cette étoile, qui nous guidera, comme elle l’a fait jusqu’à présent. D’ici, nous lui promettons de ne rien laisser d’inachevé.

On 1 October 2020 we lost one of the most accomplished lace makers in Europe in recent years: Marianne Stang. A lace maker since 1982, she was trained as a bobbin lace teacher by the Deutscher Klöppelverband e.V. (German Lace Association), and was its vice-chairman from 1986 to 1992 and its chairman from 1992 to 1998.
After leaving this position, she created, together with her sister Anneliese Wienands, the association Forum Alte Spitze GbR, whose aim is to promote and spread lace through courses and seminars, to broaden the knowledge of the art of lace through excursions in Germany and abroad, and to purchase valuable lace through collections. These collections are available for exhibitions.
In addition, Marianne Stang has participated in numerous Erasmus projects and is the coordinator of our BobbinLacee project, which we are currently working on. From the very beginning she was concerned about the size of the project, and asked us if it was too much work for us. And yes, we admit, it is a lot of work. But all of us involved are sure that in the end we will be proud that we were able to achieve it. We are doing a great job that will remain for posterity, and this is thanks to Marianne Stang, who pushed us to participate.
We are left orphaned by our Marianne. Thinking about her during the project, her welcome at the kick-off meeting in Übach-Palenberg (Germany) comes to mind – how many trips she made to take us from one place to another! And then in Vienna, leaving us speechless with a lecture on the evolution of lace illustrated with slides. And in Scanno, I can see her enjoying the reencounter with Italian lace makers she already knew. And finally in Prague, where we saw her tired, but enjoying seeing us all delighted with those who were teaching us.
Being by her side was always a pleasure, because she always had something to say. She knew about everything, and was generous in sharing it. A dedicated teacher.
Let’s finish the project by joining our hearts in honour of Marianne. We will make sure that “her” project comes to a successful conclusion. Anneliese Wienands and Elda Gantner will now take over the coordination.
An old saying remembers: “Good friends are like stars. Although you don’t always see them, you know they are there”. And now Marianne is that star, who will guide us, as she has been doing until now. From here we send her a big hug and promise not to leave anything unfinished.

Du 7 au 10 décembre 2018, des représentants de six pays ont eu la réunion de lancement du projet Erasmus+ KA2 « Building Opportunities with boBBins to Innovate the Network of Lace Associations Creating Education and Employment » (BOBBBIN LACEE) à Übach-Palenberg, Allemagne.
Le groupe a été formé par le Coordinateur Forum Alte Spitze (Übach-Palenberg, Allemagne), Partenaire Verein Klöppeln und Textile Spitzenkunst (Vienne (Autriche), Partenaire Couleurs Dentelle (Brioude, France), Partenaire Encajeras Vuelta y Cruz (Cabanillas del Campo (Espagne), Partenaire Municipalité de Scanno (Scanno, Italie) et Partenaire Ceska Palicka (Prague, République tchèque).
Au cours de la réunion, les partenaires ont discuté de la partie administrative du projet (activités de suivi, de diffusion et d’évaluation, et aspects financiers), des échéances et des activités à venir, les responsabilités du coordinateur et certains points clés des partenaires ont été précisés.
La réunion a permis aux partenaires de mieux se connaître et de former l’équipe de gestion de projet qui sera chargée de la mise en œuvre réussie du projet.
La dentelle aux fuseaux, considérée dans le passé comme l’un des métiers les plus exigeants, connu dans toute l’Europe dans différents styles et techniques, a donné aux femmes la possibilité de subvenir aux besoins économiques de leur famille sans devoir renoncer à leurs tâches quotidiennes de mère et d’épouse. La dentelle aux fuseaux se transmettait de génération en génération, de bouche en bouche et de mère en fille, sans aucun support d’apprentissage. Aujourd’hui, beaucoup de femmes travaillent encore la dentelle dans le respect des traditions de leur territoire, sans savoir à quel point la dentelle aux fuseaux a innové.
Le projet BOBBBIN LACEE veut créer des opportunités grâce à ces réseaux innovants d’associations de dentelle pour créer de l’éducation et de l’emploi, en augmentant la qualité de l’apprentissage non formel, en établissant des liens avec le marché du travail, mais surtout, en renforçant la capacité des participants à s’estimer.
Les objectifs du projet sont :
– accroître l’importance et la valeur historique de la dentelle aux fuseaux, améliorer l’assurance qualité, l’excellence des aptitudes et des compétences en vue d’améliorer les méthodes innovantes d’apprentissage
– capter l’attention de nouveaux consommateurs, en créant de nouvelles possibilités d’emploi capables de préserver la tradition grâce à des approches novatrices
– mettre en place un réseau de coopération transnationale européenne stable reliant les musées, les associations culturelles, les autorités locales/régionales et les autres institutions actives dans le domaine de la dentelle
From 7th to 10th December 2018, representatives from six countries had their kick-off meeting for the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Building Opportunities with boBBins to Innovate the Network of Lace Associations Creating Education and Employment” (BOBBIN LACEE) in Übach-Palenberg, Germany. The group was formed by Coordinator Forum Alte Spitze (Übach-Palenberg, Germany), Partner Verein Klöppeln und Textile Spitzenkunst (Vienna (Austria), Partner Couleurs Dentelle (Brioude, France), Partner Encajeras Vuelta y Cruz (Cabanillas del Campo (Spain) , Partner Municipality of Scanno (Scanno,Italy) and Partner Ceska Palicka (Prague,Czech Rep.).
During the meeting, the partners discussed about the administrative part of the project (monitoring, dissemination and evaluation activities, and financial aspects), forthcoming deadlines and activities, coordinator and partner responsibilities and made clear some key points.
The meeting permitted partners to know each other better and form the project management team that will be in charge of the successful implementation of the project.
Bobbin lace, considered in the past one of the most challenging handcrafts, known all over Europe in different techniques and styles, has given to women the opportunity to support their family economically without having to leave aside their daily duties as mothers and wives. Bobbin lace making was transmitted from generation to generation from mouth to mouth and from mothers to daughters, without any training support and keeping the secrets of the craft hidden. Today, many women still work lace respecting the traditions of their territories, without having knowledge of how bobbin lace has innovated. The project BOBBIN LACEE wants to build opportunities with bobbins innovating networks of lace Associations to create education and employment, trying to overcome the fear of losing the source of support for the family by increasing the quality of non-formal learning, implementing links to the labour market, but above all, strengthening the capacity of self-esteem of the participants.
The objectives of the project are:
– to raise importance and historical value to bobbin lace, enhance quality assurance, excellence of skills and competences for improvement of innovative non-formal learning methods
– capture the attention of new consumers, creating new employment opportunities able to preserve tradition with innovative approaches
– build a stable European transnational cooperation network linking museums, cultural associations, local/regional authorities and other institutions active in lace
